Looks like he is carrying on the message I first heard from W. Edwards Deming, then embellished by Alfie Kohn (supported by research).
It seems to me that an individual who is guided by lean thinking would not build bonuses, pay-for-performance and even dollars for ideas into their management system. It does not seem to support “Respect For Every Individual” and seems to fall into the category of “waste” since the dollars thrown at incentive compensation and bonuses does not do what most people think that it does.
